As of January 1, 2020, all SAP customers must have an upgraded SAP Solution Manager. Within 10 months, SAP Solution Manager 7.2 releases prior to SPS07 will no longer be able to communicate with SAP Backbone Support.
How will the SAP Backbone update impact your SAP system?
SAP Backbone Support is the central infrastructure at SAP that provides technical support to all SAP customers. This update increases the level of security in the communication between your Solution Manager and SAP Support Backbone. It is therefore after January 1, 2020 that versions prior to SPS07 will no longer be able to communicate with SAP.
What is the impact?
Customers who have not upgraded SAP Solution Manager will no longer be able to receive SAP reports and recommendations, or update SAP systems. This effects, for example, support incidents, support data for "Maintenance Planner," SAP "EarlyWatch Alert" data, and more.
