Imagine the Power of Maximo & Mobility

As we navigate through the age of Industry 4.0, we continue to be faced with new technologies that are enhancing the way we work. These are:

  • Blockchain;
  • Augmented Intelligence and Reality;
  • Cloud Computing;
  • 3D printing;
  • Location detection technologies;
  • Smart sensors;
  • Big Data & Analytics;
  • Mobile devices.

These new technologies will also require physical assets which will potentially need to be managed. It is therefore no surprise that Asset Management continues to play an important role during this evolution.

Mobility is the key

In addition, many of these assets will also be monitored and managed remotely, as the workforce continues to become more and more mobile-enabled.

The digital revolution creates much more value for companies. While some are just beginning their transformation journey, many others are now optimizing what they already have implemented. Mobility clearly plays an important role for organizations. It is now a way of life, at home and at work. As such, some of the enablers for mobility gaining this momentum were a result of:

  • enhanced work environment and infrastructure, allowing the workforce to be more mobile;
  • growing power of mobile devices to support heavier applications;
  • availability of cloud applications;
  • readiness of purpose-built solutions;
  • wireless access.

Let’s take Maximo, for example. Many cities and municipalities are going through a Smart City transformation where mobility advancements now allow the workforce to utilize Maximo functionality to complete their work tasks associated to work orders, both in the field and real time. The field workforce no longer has to worry about connectivity, application capabilities, or device ruggedness. They are now able to focus on providing the organization with the data it requires. Accordingly, the organization can support the workforce in real time and react even faster to its needs.

Make it “Business-First” with Samsung

Samsung adapts to the new reality of field workers with its new Galaxy Tab Active2. Businesses can now be provided with a field-ready and affordable business tablet that has a range of advantages:

  • Water-resistant (with an IP68 Rating);
  • Thin, light, and rugged (has been subjected to 21 tests for MIL-STD 810G certification);
  • S-Pen, Biometrics, AR Ready.

Embracing the digital transformation of the workplace, this device can optimize the performance for enterprise-grade applications. Moreover, it plans to support cloud-based Maximo, which will be launched soon.
